I am a historian of early modern Europe, an avid (if amateur) coder, and the custodian of an impossibly baroque ~/.emacs file. I am eager to explore new ways to incorporate digital tools into my teaching and research and look forward to the chance to network with other digital humanists. I am fascinated by the history of information technology, especially the print revolution. My recent book---_Paper Memory: A Sixteenth-Century Townsman Writes His World_ (Harvard University Press, 2012)[1]---explores the mania for self-representation that prompted a sixteenth-century German burgher to preserve the minutiae of his life on paper.
