I just started a position as professor of history and director of the Paul K. Longmore Institute on Disability at San Francisco State, a fresh beginning after teaching for over two decades at University of California, Davis. I'm not on FB or Twitter, sometimes because I think I'm ahead of the curve, sometimes because I know I'm behind. I use assistive technology (mostly text-to-speech on Macs) and helped bring together a group of artists and humanities scholars to explore possibilities for creative audio description and captioning linked to video streaming. I'm currently working with a group to conceptualize an interactive accessible multi-media exhibit to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 2015.
